Mark -
Nitrogen deficiency I didn't consider - I went ahead and applied an iron
remedy, as the label said it wouldn't hurt plants in general, though it
didn't specifically name Iris.
If I were considering nitrogen deficiency, I would have to be a lot more
cautious about making sure there truly was a lack before I applied
nitrogen. I imagine I could cause a serious problem with the poor plant
if it received unneeded nitrogen which encouraged soft, rank, green
growth this late into the summer season. Will taking a nitrogen test of
the immediate soil be a valid deficiency test?
BTW, last week our paper had a map of all the wildfire sites in Florida
- it was stunning. The state was inundated with them. That brought home
to me the severity of your conditions down there. I couldn't access the
Dunellon web-site address you posted a while back. My server said the
URL couldn't be found.
