When I ship LA's, I dig and wash the rhizome, cut back the fan to 4" to
6" and label it with a plastic tag wrapped around the base of the fan. I
also write the name of the cultivar on the remaining fan. I wrap the
entire thing in newspaper and put it in a plastic bag. Then I add a
little water, seal it, put it in a box and ship by USPS by priority
mail. I suggest that you mail on Monday or Tuesday, so the package
doesn't get hung up over the weekend. Also keep it out of the sun until
you get it to the PO. With LA's I wouldn't be in a hurry to ship to
Florida. Late September is probably a better time than now.
