Our first order of the season has finally arrived despite the Post
Office. Roger kindly e-mailed us to let us know that it had been mailed
June 29. When it didn't arrive by July 13th, we started the phone
calls. Customs told us that it had cleared July 2. The post office
told us that a delivery attempt had been made July 6 and a card had been
left. NOT. A call to our local post office could not locate the
parcel. They normally need the card to locate the parcel. So we open a
file with the post office and they're supposed to track down the parcel.
They couldn't even tell us if Purolator or the regular postal system was
handling the parcel.
July 14 came and went with no phone calls and no parcel.
July 15, the post office calls to check to see if the parcel arrived.
NOT. We warn the post office that if the parcel does not arrive soon,
we would likely be filing a claim for damages.
But miracles do happen. I arrive home at the end of the day and I see
iris rhizomes spread out all over the dining room table. The final
notice card was delivered and Sandy went directly to the post office to
pick it up.
Fortunately, the post office had air-conditioned premises for storing
the parcels and the shipment looks great. Some really monster rhizomes
(although nothing can beat the rhizome of FOOTLOOSE that we got a few
years ago) and many rhizomes with lots of buds. Even better were the
munificent bonuses.
Thank you, Rick and Roger, for a fabulous job. I am particularly
looking forward to seeing SPLASHACATA, GLACIER POINT and CHOCOLATE MINT
in bloom.
