I think it's important to give you input on this, since you are sincere
in your desire to have as workable a list as possible for everyone. This
list sort of fell into your lap, and I'm sure you were as surprised as
any when you ended up being a permanent list owner :-) I appreciate very
much that you were willing to do that. I think I might have had second
thoughts if that happened to me.
I concur with all the prior comments (100% from what I read) that this
list is working fine, the commercial tone is very low key (I hardly
notice it), and things seem to run very smoothly. In fact, I find it
difficult to tell from the old Iris-L format (which was wise for you to
do). I have had no problems at all with the transition, as it was no
more difficult for me than signing up with Iris-L in the first place. I
think gratitude is my major feeling right now.
One of the biggest pluses I see about staying on Onelist is the greater
ease for the list owner. When you described the high rate of message
returns on RT66, and the time involved, it made me realize what a large
labor of love it was for Tom, and then you. The fact that Onelist
lessens that particular burden for you is a good reason to stay here.
One other little plus for me with this new list: when I now receive
incoming list mail it is always prefaced in parentheses with (iris
talk). This has made it a lot easier for me to differentiate between
private and list mail. I can scroll down through the headers very
quickly now.
Oh yes, I like Maureen's suggestion that we now put our e-mail address
(if we so desire) with our signature, since that isn't accessible
through list mgmt - that seems easy and practical.
Please don't step down! I think we're fortunate we so easily acquired a
new home through you!
