Sounds like the good old fungal leaf spot. Daconil is a good move, but you
need to reapply if it rains. Use of a spreader-sticker will also aid the Daconil
in doing its job. Rhizome rot (does it smell foul?) is best cured with bleach
or comet. Scrape the rot out, and drench with bleach or Comet cleanser.
Leave the wound exposed to air. Monitor, repeat if necessary.
