The person who made this statement may have experienced this phenomenon 
personally, but you would need to check what cv's were grown, or whether 
her experience was with seedlings, and what other factors played a part 
in their bloomout.
Graeme Grosvenor suggests WEDDING VOW(Ghio '72) as a good beginners 
iris. He describes it as Snowy white very fertile and very tough. It 
certainly doesn't sound as if it would bloom out. 
One wonders how a person could even manage to grow a pure white flowered 
iris, if they always bloom out and die. This fatal flaw would make it 
almost impossible to reproduce the plant in any way.
