Could it have been Wilma's PEPPERMINT STRIPE (Vallette 1960) ? Irisarians
imaginations were and are 'VERY' good when seeing the color red. Wilma did
have the decency to describe it as 'rose, tinged mulberry' and the candy
cane effect was on the upper part of the falls. I didn't know it was still
in existence--it didn't get good distribution and the hype was more than
the iris delivered when seen in person (or should that be 'in flower'?).
For Marte: a picture & pedigree of EDITH WOLFORD on the HIPS site (also pic
of Ben Hager).
Edith's beard gives an impression of rusty orange although the violet is
under the orange. Rick Ernst's THRILLSEEKER is very close to E.W. but the
standards have better form. E.W.s standards tend to gape and be somewhat
'un-organized'
