Donald,
Could the new growth just be burned to a crisp like everything else here in
the middle of Texas? Maybe just the tip will be affected. I'd keep them
well watered and expect healthy growth to follow. I'm southeast of you in
Goldthwaite, where we've received some good rains this month, but with temps
staying above 100 degrees, nothing is growing as it should. I love irises
for many reasons, not the least of which is their hardiness that allows them
to survive summers like this one!

On the new order received week before last, several have began putting forth
new growth. One has push a leaf almost half an inch from the central fan.
It is dead growth emerging, rather than the green I've seen before. Has
anyone else observed this phenomena on new growth? Is something affecting
the rhizome or has something happened to the growth in the fan?
