My list is similar to Kathy Guest's list of reasons to let iris stay:
1. It lives
2. It lives
3. Somebody told me it would live
4. I doesn't die
5. It doesn't rot completely
6. It doesn't get frozen completely
7. It lives somewhere nearby
8. It's related to something that lives nearby
9. It blooms sometimes
10. It blooms nearly every year
The ones that I get rid of?
1. It nearly dies every year, rarely blooms, and the flower looks more
or less like something else that does better
2. It nearly dies every year and rarely blooms and when it does, the
stalks are stunted or flowers deformed.
3. I've had it for 3+ years, it's been shrinking every year, I'm tired
of waiting for it to die, I have a new experiment in hand, and the spot
the living dead is occupying is right where I am at the moment.
On that cheery note, I am unsubscribing again - be back later. If
anybody thinks of more Region 7 or 24 hybridizers, or folks in other
regions who might like to donate plants to the Fall regional auction,
send me email off-list. Thanks.
