Paul, I suggest War Chief instead of Warrior King. So far, it's the
best red I've grown. Warrior King is an excellent red -- I've had it
for years. But after growing War Chief for three years, I think it is a
better iris -- more buds, more consistent bloom, stands up to the wind
and blooms normally after unusual weather, e.g., freeze-thaws, early
thaws. I've had at least one bloom stalk per rhizome planted with at
least three increases per rhizome each year. Colouring is a little
deeper than Warrior King, if memory serves me correctly, and it has
excellent branching.
