Paul,
Blue Eyed Grass is the common name for any of several species of
Sisyrinchium. It is not a grass at all, but is an Irid. The plants are
small, and at this time of the year, blend in perfectly with the rest of
the turf.
The common species here, Sisyrinchium atlanticum, blooms from February
to April, and is quite pretty.
When yours get to blooming size, you may wish to cut the old seed
heads off to prevent it from escaping cultivation.
