Thank, Anner, for your sage advice. I would add that I don't dig
the planting hole as deep as 4". I leave the pot contents slightly
elevated and firm the soil around the newly set plant to avoid depressions
in the soil and possible reservoirs.
If you follow all the potting hints given in the last few days,
you won't see rhizomes in January or February on tippy-toes or spider legs
or even lying on their sides. That is a disgusting sight when the cold
north wind is blowing a gale and the temperature is frigid.
