Re: Cult-water

Colleen,
Water is pretty scarce where here were we are. Our
water bill for the town water which we use only for
the house runs about $40.00 a month. We water all of
the iris, trees, roses, etc. with our well water. The
hard part here is that this well at peak production
puts out about 5 gpm. Therefore everything we have
except the lawn is on drip emitters and timers. That
poor well runs 18 hours a day from Feb through Oct.
but it takes care of business. If we were to put
everything on town water our bill would probably run
over $100 a month. Sure makes you grateful for a
well.

Is this a common situation in other parts of the USA?
In Aust most people on town supply would pay about
$350 a quarter for water and if they had a large
garden, then also about $500-$1000 in excess water as
well. Water conservation is heavily promoted here. We
are fortunate that we have a bore, albeit a bit salty
so we can't overuse it.
