I use Deadline in southern California for the snails (escargots)
imported by some gourmet in San Francisco (have heard that he got the
wrong species, anyway).
It works well. The label does have a warning about other critters not
eating it, but I have not seen any evidence of problems.
BTW, back on the original subject, I have had infestations of little
beetles that left daylilies looking as if they had been hit with a
weedwhacker. Perhaps these wee beasties are what mangled the hostas. The
comparatively mild Sevin was recommended as treatment.
