Dave Silverberg gave me a suggestion that has worked well for me for two
years now.
He said to scatter lettuce leaves around the hostas and the varments,
preferring the taste of lettuce, would leave the hostas alone. I went him
one better and planted a couple of
lettuce plants near the hostas. Now that lettuce doesn't look so good, but
the hostas are fine. Pat
