Hi Patrick and All,

There definitely is a genetic predisposition to a variety blooming out. We
have found to our dismay that some of our introductions or intended
introductions have this trait. In addition, when these varieties are used as
parents, some of their offspring also carry this trait. We have difficulty
keeping our miniature dwarf, CAMEO CUTIE, going. One time we lined out 20 or
30 plants and had them all succumb to bloomout. Feeding it well with a
higher than usual nitrogen proportion fertilizer has produced more increases.
This might be something to experiment with.
