I have an iris bed on a hillside slope (about 30 degree incline) and it is
full of aril species.  One of the rhizomes was heaved out of the ground
this spring and all the green growth prompty died.  I thought for sure this
rhizome would succumb to rot.  But I replanted it anyway, this time putting
it totally under ground, and right now it is putting up increases.

So anyway, my point is that I agree Kitty Loberg... bloomout could have
something to do with the rhizome not being buried deep enough.
