Re: OT-CHAT: Pokemon (names)

The pokemon craze has not been going quite long enough to filter into
irisdom, however there is a second problem...

The creatures actually have two names each (minimum). The original name
is a sensible Japanese name and the second name is a sensible English
(American) name, provided to each when the game and cartoon series were
introduced to North America.

;-)

Therefore, there could well be a cultivar with a pokemon name. My
knowledge of cultivars introduced in Japan is insufficient to the task.

I should reserve 'Slowpoke'. However 'Electrode' is fairly
straightforward and innocuous.
