Babs,
     I would think that most TB Irises and bulbous Irises would do great in 
Belgium.  Another type you may wish to consider would be Siberian Irises.  
They make very pretty clumps, and would be suited for the climate.  I grow 
Louisiana Irises, but I am not certain they would normally get enough heat in 
your climate.
