Susan: I used to tell my students (I'm a retired teacher) that there is no such thing as a stupid question. Rather, stupid is when you don't know something but don't ask about it to find out. I hope you'll continue to ask questions on this list, even though nobody can claim to have all the answers or even the one that will suit your needs. We all do that, and that's how we learn. That said, there are certainly books one can read to find out lots of other things, or just for enjoyment, about iris. One of the best is THE GARDENER'S IRIS BOOK written a couple years ago by Bill Shear, who also belongs to this list. It's full of pictures, is written in down-to-earth language, and it's authoritative. In other words, you can trust it, you can understand it, and you will enjoy it. I highly recommend it. Ask your public library if you don't want to buy it right away; I'll bet you will want to buy it after you see it. Best wishes, and keep writing!
