Strange looking flower..

I don't know much about irises, and I thought my mom sort of knew
about gardening a bit, but when she found this strange Iris suddenly
come out of a bed of purple ones she had no clue what happened.

That bed of irises has been there for years, and we've never seen
anything like it in there before. I wish I could get a detailed shot
of the inside of it, but my digital cam is horrible, but it's got very
fine white stamen(sp) running up along it's five petals.
If anyone knows what occured with this flower we'd love to know!
