Re: CULT: BLACK FALLS (was DisappointingTBs)

Jeff,

That's interesting on how BLACK FALLS performs for you. For me, it and
AMERICAN SWEETHEART have falls that are extremely horizontal. Much like the
bloom doesn't really ever fully open. HELLO DARKNESS and BEFORE THE STORM
have flaring falls, but not horizontal. As for the standards, here they
were short and made what I call 'dunce caps' perched on top of the falls.
It's a look I don't care for anytime, and with the standards so short the
bloom lost its proportion altogether. It was consistent in this habit. It
really was one of the better ones here for reaching close to the registered
height. A definite plus on its behalf because many do not ever do that,
much less on a regular basis. Another plus was the textural contrast
between the falls and the standards. Those very black falls really have a
velvety finish, while the standards had a finish like nylon. If it hadn't
conked out on me, my plan was to move it into a low spot so that I would
always be looking down on it, rather than across toward its side. An
advantage of being on a steep hill.
