JI:SUMMER MOON & WORLD DELIGHT

Hi talkers,
I just wanted to report that my Japanese Irises are blooming to extend
the iris season. My Louisianna irises just finished blooming, BLACK GAMECOCK,
JOYFUL CHARM, VELVET MEMORY & RICH JEWEL. They were gorgeous, but not as
florific as last year. Need more manure? Possibly more acid fertilizer?
My Japanese irises are starting to bloom. WORLD DELIGHT (2 years old)
has 5 stalks, and tripple socketed, with 5 blooms per stalk, beautiful, very
tall almost 5 feet tall, light lavender with 6 falls, 6 - 8 inches across.
SUMMER MOON (2 years old) has 2 stalks, with 4 blooms per stalk and is white
with 6 falls and 6-7 inches across and about 4 1/2 feet tall. Yet to bloom
are ROSEWATER (5 years old, received as a door prize from the AIS National
Convention in Deerborn Michegan in 1997) with 5 stalks, 4 1/2 feet tall, with
6 falls, rose colored, about 6-8 inches across and DIAMODES (2 years old), 3
feet tall, has 1 stalk with flowers that have 6 falls, purple with yellow
center and 5-6 inches across (last year & hopefully this year also). Such a
wonderful display. They are grown in the soil, near a bog with possibly a
stream under them as they never need watering & yet the soil is not soggy. I
feed them with acid fertilizer & add a little manure on top of Rosewater (5
years in the same spot & not decreasing, cross my fingers).
     Wish you could see them.
