I have bearded iris of about 7-8 varities planted in different areas
of my yard. Some do well, some just fair. I will have some time to
do some replanting this summer, following the basic instructions in
your web-site on growing.
My largest garden with tall bearded iris, tall lilies and other
perenials, developed 6 years ago from screening clean dirt from a new
driveway job, along with other black dirt, is about 12' long x 4'
wide, oval, raised mound about 6" high at top. It is located at the
front lot line, receives sun in afternoon, shade from tall birch in
morning. The bearded iris seem to grow well and bloom
nicely...except that each year about half of the bloom stalks fall
over in early stages of blooming. I try to keep the space watered
and fertilized with Miracle Grow. The iris were dug and seperated 3
years ago...they have always had the problem.
Any suggestions?
