I think there are two life cycles, with one cycle wintering over. I
also beleive that the two cycles have different spring cycles. I
can't really prove my contention because I have used granular Merit
for the last three years and borers have decreased dramatically.
During post bloom cleanup I found borers in two iris planted outside
the established iris beds. These do not get the attention as they
were leftovers and just stuck in the ground for filler. One thing I
must do is to respread the Merit to catch the second batch of new
hatchlings.
