Don,
If the whole rhizome is falling over, it may be because the soil is to
soft or
to wet. If  just the stalk leans over and the plant stays firm in the
soil,
then for some reason the stalk is weak and the flowers are making it top
heavy, fertilizer could be making it grow faster than they should.
 If the stalk snakes, this could be because of lack of sunlight or
changes in weather when it is reaching for the sun.
I'd make sure the tall lilies and other perennials are not blocking
the sun from hitting the tops of the rhizomes, and the iris are getting 
6 hours of direct sun a day.
