Rich, I think this is just an oddity. Although I havent seen it in my Dutch
Irises, it occurs a lot in other plants, including tall bearded irises, and
doesn't tend to repeat itself. It does look startling, and very attractive.
BTW - can anyone tell me why there are so many photos of
flowers-other-than-iris in our shared files at yahoo groups? I figure there
must be a reason, but can't think what it would be.
