Subject: [iris-talk] OT: tags. .

Dear Iris loving friends:
I've read, saved and reread all the opinions regarding tags. I
have run the gamut of emotions. . from shaking my head and laughing at
how serious this issue is to some folks to being down right appalled at
the anger and absolute lack of tolerance displayed by others.
The personal attacks on John were NASTY, MEAN SPIRITED AND
ABSOLUTELY UNCALLED FOR. If someone is that angry over a nudge for tag
usage, they might consider that this is NOT a place where they are going
to be happy and find a more compatible Iris chat site.
We live in a society of rules and regulations. I often disagree
with many of those rules but if I'm going to be a member of this society,
I have to either comply or remove myself. Depending upon the situation, I
often just remove myself - quietly and with my mouth shut. (Please don't
take me for a wimpy woman - you would be SOOOO mistaken)!
I have not met face to face with anyone on Iris-Talk but I feel a
strong bond with 99% of you. A number of you I have come to know to a
greater or lesser degree, through off-line e-mail notes. I find you,
almost to a person, to be a pretty great bunch of people; people who are
most certainly worth the slight effort it takes to keep John's tag list
by my computer to be referred to and used!
I have never thought too much about the tags being a problem. I
have forgotten to use them and have been reminded but I never took it
personally because it's an Iris-Talk rule (and I sure don't want to
remove myself from this group.)
Perhaps that's the definitive word . . taking it personally.
Perhaps being less thin-skinned and thinking more about the good of the
group as a whole . . . .
And there are ways to voice your opinion and feelings without
being mean spirited and cruel. Most of us learned this as children at the
knee of our mother (or should I say, across the knee of our mother! I was
the recipient of more than one back hand from my Mom for my "smart-ass
mouth" (my Mother's words)
So, deal with the few rules requested with graciousness. The
reward is having some mighty smart Iris people to call upon for all the
things you don't have answers to not to mention a step up in your
personal maturity curve.
And John, I don't think you are obsessed, or controlling; and I
don't recall you "jumping in with your instructions on how to post." I
recall you reminding us to use the tags. . but "jumping" in. . . ????
Oh, and John, being referred to as a computer nerd. . I was
unaware that was a derogatory term. I've been referred to by that "title"
and I was rather flattered!!
Thanks to all of you who read this!
