TB: Crystal Dreams

I don't subscribe to iris-photos, but I wanted to show y'all a picture of
Crystal Dreams, and Randy Squires was nice enough to post it for me. It's a
very poor photo of a poor specimen, but it provides a hint of why I thought
he might like it, even considering it is "just a pastel".

The color of the falls is actually pale pink-white with a very slightly
pinker edge band and subtle hints of lavender. The standards are clean pale
pink with lacy lavender edges. It does NOT have an ivory-yellow cast; blame
that on the camera. The ivory-beige background was actually a clean sheet
of white paper. This was not a representative stalk or flower. It was
small and short, but if you "correct" for the color maybe you can see why I
love Crystal Dreams. It is not a relatively poor grower with sparse bloom
for me, though not rot prone. It is just one of the most lovely,
delicately-colored iris I grow. It has better color than a later Shockey
intro, Crystal Morn. I saw it at Aitken's, bought it from Schreiners', and
have only seen it recently in Blyth's catalog. It's slow growth probably
leads to the limited commercial distribution and relative obscurity.
