I appreciate the info on Brown rebloomers. Seems to me they would have some
merit in producing a contiguous extension of the bloom season which leads me
into my next question.
With the exception of the obvious susceptibility of darker colors to heat, do
bearded iris exist that produce blooms more heat tolerant/longer lasting than
others?
Even if rebloom does not manifest itself until 6 months or so after initial
bloom, if the plant does so a high percentage of the time, it would still be
a genetically programmed trait.
I concur with the fall blooming scenario you suggest. One iris I grow has far
more prolific bloom in the fall than in spring. I suspect the spring flowers
are actually the rebloom. Do you believe this hypothesis plausible?
