HYB: Champagne Elegance X Lent A. Williamson

Good evening folks,

I'm pleased to announce that I've had maiden bloom on my CE X LAW
seedlings from a series of fertility tests done two years ago. The
results so far have exceeded my expectations with this one.

What I got was a new and improved Lent with greater substance and better
form. The lavender standards still have the thin veining but they don't
blow around in the wind like the pollen parent does. The falls are not
that pleasing in terms of form but they are considerably more flared
than Lent's are. Much of the dark purple on the falls has been replaced
with magenta which blends to purple. Falls have a grayish lavender band
which is a very attractive surprise . I find it surprisingly beautiful
since Lent is just an old cv and is probably the floppiest iris I own.

I'll post a photo of it in a few weeks.

I'm now waiting for rebloom but I won't hold my breath. Only three
other seedlings from with cross will bloom this year :-( It looks as if
I need to get the seedlings into the ground earlier this year to get
more bloom next spring.
