John, thanks for trying so hard to get a blue version of LOUISA'S SONG.
BEST BET does grow in this area - somebody brought a stalk to our show
this spring. Sure didn't grow for me though. I don't know about the
other two you tried to cross with it.
The blue amoena that does the best for me is RIDE THE WIND, but I
suspect it has too many shortcomings according to your standards
(substance, branching & bud count) for you to want to try making crosses
with it. Sure is a lovely color though & has a faint hint of a rim.
Bloom gets frozen out here fairly often, but it's a really healthy plant
& blooms nicely off & on. Very nice here this year, but wouldn't set
pods for me either way. I <really> was hoping for a cross with WHO'S
YOUR DADDY...
