Six weeks, I think. I put the knocked off or rotted off pods on a
windowsill that gets a lot of bright indirect light most of the day to
let them ripen as much as they can. The ones that get accidentally
knocked off seem to ripen ok on their own this way. The ones that rot
off don't do as well.
There is a pod ripening outdoors that is still attached to a green and
healthy stalk that broke off about a week after I made the cross. I
left it lying where it fell. It seems to be maturing normally, no sign
of rot so far, in spite of all the rain we've had.
<What's the youngest pod to produce viable seeds after being knocked off
the stalk? Mary Lou, near Indianapolis, Z5>
