Re: MED CULT
Hi Rich,
I personally think it may be the season. I have have many like that this year
and I have not seen so many before. Over about 10 years of growing. The
interesting part is that I saw more of this on new plantings. And newly
cultivated ground.
Until last year I followed the teachings of the other Irisarians in the area.
Don't fertilize. Last year I planted Moss Roses in my Iris beds. I dug each
hole too deep and put in a small amount of Iris fertilizer, some dirt on top
and then the Moss Rose. The Moss Roses grew like weeds. I wonder why.
But stand by. I had more bloom stalks in my garden this year where I had
planted Moss Roses last year than I have ever had. A bed that I planted two
years ago and had at most one bud stalk per clump, this year I had 8 or 10
stalks. I left only three fans last year for each clump and dug the rest.
I purchases this fertilizer from the Northern Illinois Iris Society and the
email for the Pres. is larcar6@attbi.com and her name is Caryl Schaer. She
can tell you more about the Fertilizer or tell you who can.
