And of course, layered in on top of heredity is the effect of growing
conditions/climate.  Case in point is IMMORTALITY herself - some years,
she won't bloom at all, some years, she blooms several times.  Hard to
impossible to tell whether or not the children might or might not
rebloom eventually.

Interesting, Mike, that you saw such a difference in seedlings from the
same cross.  I enjoyed my IMMORTALITY X CELEBRATION SONG kids so much
that I repeated the cross the year after the first batch of babies
bloomed.  Those seeds were very tempermental about germinating,
relatively few survived to be lined out in the garden, & the one or two
that have bloomed so far aren't much to look at compared to the first
batch.  Impossible to know whether or not those are seed/seedling
development issues or selection differences in which pollen/seeds made
it into the final mix.  I assume it's mostly the former, but who
knows...

Might be fun to compare the same cross made in different growing
conditions with seedlings grown in the same conditions.

                   I have tried to track that in the past with no luck.
One year we had about
                   75% of Bountiful Harvest X Colorwatch rebloom (31
seedlings).  Made the
                   cross the next spring and two years later the same
cross produced 2
                   rebloomers out of 23.  Some parents do regularly
produce more rebloom
                   children but the percentage is always different.
