Though relatively rare, I've seen them both ways. Some totally without and 
others with embryonic seed that didn't develop.  Some years I have none at all 
and other years I'll have 2 or 3.  Rarely do I have just one.  Most of the time 
my bee pods can be traced back to a cross I forgot to write down or tag. I 
should NEVER make crosses without my materials with me!  But, I do.
