 Would you mind posting a pix of what you are calling blue flag.  When mine
bloomed back in Apr. I did post a pix and ask group not to laugh.  I had so
many and they were a sight.  I'm wondering if yours look like the one I
posted.??

Thanks Anner - They are bearded so I believe it is the former.

  I find it interesting that all the old house here have large, neglected
patches of these, and other colors of very similar bearded, albeit different
colored, iris, but very few of us have the more modern forms and colors.  I
suspect most of these clumps date back to the 50's or earlier because of the
ages of the houses and when they are last likely to have had gardeners
living in them (women like my grandmother was)

  Thanks for the advice. I suspect I will just move them out of my more
modern beds into a quiet spot where they can hang out to their heart's
content.
