HYB: more rebloom
I was just about to reply to Linda Mann's last message when I decided to go
check on today's bloom on 984M7, which I reported on yesterday. Not fully
open yet. But, wonder of wonders -- two stalks coming up on 01J14, which is
a derivative of 984M7. 01J14:(984M7:(Champagne Elegance x Lady Friend)) X
Romantic Evening. Like its parent, 01J14 has never before rebloomed. I am
now more than ever convinced that rainfall is the reason. We've had 8.5
inches so far this year, if the website I'm quoting is correct. (I'd like to
be able to check that against our average, but can't find it anywhere on the
net. I've been able to find the precipitation regime for upper Baluchistan,
but not for northern Virginia.) For those of you who calculate that
temperature plays a part, I can only relate that we're having normal weather
for this time of year -- upper 80s to 100 during the past 2 weeks, with a
few nights in the 60s. I've posted 01J14's springtime photo before. If its
rebloom is decent, I'll post it in a few days.
Linda -- I hope the weather treats you better this year than last. --
Griff
