I'm going to build raised beds for my irises because all I have is heavy clay and amending the soil would take years to make it usable I think. I'll be doing TB, MBD, and SBD. I believe I got all those abbreviations correct. I'm learning as I go. So my question is, what soils should I purchase from home improvement stores to use? Garden soil, garden soil and top soil? These soils which include fertilizers such as miracle gro (these are often on special which is why they're included in the question.) Other options? Include other amendments? Thanks for any suggestions.
