B B B This year I had a few more iris blooming down low in the leaves than usual. Some iris have never raise their bloom above the leaves and they soon get spade pruned. I gave all my iris nitrogen in February. Some bloom stalks grew higher than before. I think the reasons for out of the ordinary low bloom or high bloom will never be known. B B B I have a couple of those tall, 40" to 46", stalks with pods on them and they definitely have to be staked. B B B All but one of the iris from one particular breeder bloom with big blooms down in the leaves about six inches from the ground. The nex t stalk goes above the leaves and has big blooms, but the order of opening is not good. All of those are destined to meet the spade if they have not already done so.
