RE: OT-BIO Mac Lewis

Yow! Mac! Hello, and welcome to the list. Due to the funky nature of e-mail
on MSN, I can't tell what your e-mail address is, so this reply will go to the
list rather than to you. But I'd like to invite you to come to the meetings
of the Santa Fe Iris Society, which meets this year the last Thursday of the
months between January and September. We just had our show May 24th at De
Vargas Mall--did you miss us? Anyway, we would be more than happy to go over
digging and dividing your iris with you, whether you can come to meetings or
not. And our rhizome sale is August 2 (also at the same mall), so mark your
calendar and come!
I hope we get to meet you soon.

Hi, all. I'm an author/editor/publisher (of retirement plan training and
marketing materials), occasional consultant and life insurance
agent/mutual funds rep in Santa Fe, NM, and an iris enthusiast.

Currently admiring the exceptional profusion of iris blooms in our
garden (due, I suspect, to an unusually rainy spring here) and beginning
to consider our first major division/transplanting in a couple of years
later this summer. Since the regular garden areas are pretty full, I
will be preparing a new and (for me) large all-iris garden, somewhat
away from the house, which I will use for propagation, tubers to take
with us if/when we move next, gifts to friends and cut flowers (we can't
bring ourselves to cut many from the more visible and decorative garden
areas).

Mostly ignorant (despite above-noted enthusiasm), so went searching for
irises on the WWW and found this list. Interested in everything to do
with irises, but especially (right now) soil preparation and timing (I
understand July/August is the general time, but wonder if it is
different here in the high [7,000 feet] desert) and methods of division
and transplanting.

Pleased to be here. Looking forward to meeting you all.

Mac
