Bravo, bravo - Christine! You are to be not only congratulated - but ADMIRED
for having the courage to mount an iris show. For the folks who don't
know... Christine is the person who is responsible for the formation of the
club she mentioned... and furthermore - the club hasn't even been around long
enough to be formalized! Christine - there are many iris clubs who have
been in existence for YEARS who don't feel ready to have a show. I just LOVE
that your club decided to just jump in!
An iris show is the best marketing tool there is for an iris club. There are
folks out there who will expound on a show being an artificial environment
and how they eschew the show experience.... BUT IMHO there's no better
advertising for iris than bringing the best of the garden to an area where
people can get the impact of them.... and furthermore have friendly folks to
tell them that they can have them too!
And.... there's NOTHING like the rush of having one of your peers choose one
of your entries for a ribbon. That cheap little scrap of fabric will surely
send you down the path of ruin.... pouring over catalogs, haunting other
gardens, digging 'just one more garden'... >

And this is ALSO fantastic! Mickey is a newer member... and has also joined
the judges training program. She's obviously paying attention <VBG>

>the comaraderie. I envy all of you going to Dearborn.
And that statement there is EXACTLY it, Christine. We're in this for many
reasons... but the best is surely the folks. We wish you were coming to
Dearborn too, Christine.
CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done... and on your boundless enthusiasm.
