Hi Everyone--
This is a strange one (unless some of you have had this happen). A
friend moved here to upstate NY zne 4 and dug up several of his TBs that
had already bloomed in alabama. He gave me some and I planted them.
they look TERRIBLE.....falling down, turning brown, very very sad.
Except that on my morning round of the beds, Inoticed that a bloom stalk
is appearing on one of the worst looking ones (which also fell over
during the night). Not that the bud looks so terrific, mind you.
And to all of you who have encouraged me to be patient, you were right.
I have several bloomstalks in the bed where I put in 24 new irises last
spring. And of course my Very Superior Old Irises are thriving with 12
bloomstalks so far (and I know there will be more to come). However,
all th eiris clumps in the partly shadey/partly sunny berm are super
foliage/no bloomstalks.
Siberians--O, Psuedacorus--5 (so far).
Also Dicentra, viburnum, lilacs are all i blooms and the hostas are
lookin' good.
On the subject of bog gardens, all I can say is Thank God I have a pond.
