Hi Kay--
A good solution to mosquitos is frogs and toads. And as for cat-tails,
they are very invasive and take over sooner than you think. Even though
a friend of mine has a bog garden and no pond, he has frogs. He nor I
have a mosquito problem.
I just planted four LAs in the pond and the rest in the bog garden.
I'll know next year how they survive. I was told NOT to plant JIs in
the pond because they don't like the ice. Maybe I should try a couple
just on the inside edge and see what happens (I hate to lose them)but I
am in a slightly colder zone than you are.
