Walter, thanks for the supportive comments. I agree with you
completely. Although I will do my best to present membership in a positive
light to prospective members, I also believe the current system is a turn-off.

Agreed! And I would like to add that there is only one check (max)
coming for each membership. Sometimes, less, when a treasurer sends one check
to cover several who joined in the same timeframe. If you let the new people
pay for the remaining months in the year it won't increase the number of
checks submitted (i.e. the workload) -- just the dollar amount on the checks
submitted.

How do the rest of our fellow AIS members on IRIS-L feel about this
issue: pro-ration of membership dues for our new members in the year that
they join? Thanks!
