I'm glad to read this from Ellen, who responded to Chris H :
I have a Siberian, RUFFLED VELVET, who was planted last July and
is shorter than your INDY. I don't expect much the first year on
any Siberians because of my Zone....altho' some toss up a bloom
the first year. I know you are giving it lots to drink and keeping
the ground around it cool and lightly mulched to keep it moist.
If the plant doesn't look 'sick' and was planted deeper the
TBs, it will probably right itself later. In your zone, consi-
derably warmer than here, it really should be taller and more
described it. INDY is very vigorous as a rule.
Hope it does better since a clump of INDY is a sight to behold.
Cheers,
Ellen

Especially glad to hear that if beardless were planted too deeply,
they'll right themselves. I thought I'd lost 'Berlin Ruffles' but I
see that it is indeed there. And I've several which seem to be stalled
at three or four inches. Nearby plants are vigorous enough.
I've planted Sibs and Japs near each other. Is a problem going to develop??
The Japs are much stronger growers than the Sibs, it seems to me, but I'm
not complaining. I noticed a couple of bloomstalks coming along. A fellow
WNYIS'er who visited the other day said he has some bloomstalks on his
Sibs, also.
Can't be long now.
