At our Iris Society meeting yesterday (on hybridizing) one of the successful
hybridizers in the group stated that he chews the end of the toothpick to
make it "brushy", but insists he gets best results from letting it dry
before using it. The consensus re collecting and daubing was that
collecting was best done from second-day blooms and daubing done in the
early morning (after dew or rain has dried) on first-day blooms. Have never
tried hybridizing -- just passing along some information.
