Mike Lowe (who should be back on the list soon) has a picture file of older
iris varieties. He can match a picture you send him to those in his file,
taken of verified plants of the older varieties. But identifying iris
varities (someone recently posted that there were more than 30,000 (?)
registered) from verbal descriptions alone is very difficult unless the
variety in question is super-distinctive.
For now, take a picture or two and when you see Mike's name back on the
list, ask him if you can send them along.
