Iridescence is one of the distinguishing characteristics of I. hoogiana. Here
in southern New Mexico, I. hoogiana v. alba blooms mother-of-pearl, and Ice Bowl
is somewhat whiter. In another climate, I wouldn't be surprised to find Ice
Bowl blooming a bit darker -- like mother-of-pearl. Size is comparable to that
of many of the old diploid TBs; form is something like that of the autosyndetica
shown on p. 242 of Kohlein's book.
