Re: SD : CULT median bearded

Amy, the smaller bearded irises do very well in the cold weather here. I =
may not have been clear in what I was saying. The point I was trying to =
make was that they survive very well in inclement weather. Freeze-thaws and=
 =
very cold weather do not affect them as they do with the TBs.

I have not had any problems with MDBs, SDBs or IBs other than the fact that=
 =
some grow like weeds. TBs are much more temperamental for me. Certain =
varieties do well, some grow but don't bloom and others just die out on me.

If it doesn't grow well for me in three years, I generally throw it out.

Mon Dieu! If these dwarf iris do not bloom in cold Alanis Morissette
land, then what chance have they here??? A mild winter at -20C? That's
like, -4 F which would be a world record winter for us, not a mild
winter.

That's why I question: in zone 8b, where frost is more likely than not
but not a certainty, where we *must* store tulips and narcissi in the
'fridge and they're annuals, what chance do I have with the non-T
bearded iris?
